Champions League
semi final, second leg
Manchester Utd
- Barcelona 2.02 - 3.30 - 4.50
United were
deservedly beaten by Chelsea at the weekend.
Saying that I loved their last five minutes of the
game. Both Cole and Shevchenko were forced
to make goal line clearances for Chelsea when
United threw everything at them. United have been
a bit too passive for my liking away to Barcelona
and Chelsea, but I take it for granted that we
will witness a traditional aggressive and
offensive United display tomorrow. I should think
that we will see Vidic back in the United defence
tomorrow but having watched Rooney in obvious
pain the other day, I sincerely doubt that he
will recover in time. According to the United coach,
Sir Alex, both players should play, but we shall
just have wait and see.
As expected, Barcelona lost their league game at Coruna at the
weekend. They rested most of their key players
and as I pointed out last week, this could prove
decisive tomorrow. OK, Ronaldo and Tevez were not
included in the United starting line up against
Chelsea either. But we saw Rooney limping in the
second half, did we not? Anyway, Barcelona
will have their captain Puyol back for this match.
His replacement last week, R Marquez, is out
suspended. Ya Ya Toure is considered a slight
injury doubt.
The first leg in
Barcelona was a bit of a bore in my opinion, but I
am sure that one or two football experts enjoyed
the fixture from a tactical point of view. Surely
we can look forward to a more open game tomorrow
and definitely an attacking United side this time
but Barcelona will probably once again dominate in
terms of ball possession. The outcome? Maybe
the score draw and Barcelona through on the away
goal rule (3.30).
