Champions League
semi final - first leg.
Liverpool -
Chelsea 2.35 - 3.58
Over the two legs I
have Liverpool as favourites. Nothing really
separates these two sides, but while Liverpool can
send their reserves to Birmingham this coming
weekend Chelsea face Man United at Stamford
Bridge. Not exactly the ideal preparation game for
the second leg. So If I am right, Liverpool and
Barcelona will play the Champions League final
this season.
I cannot say that I
am looking forward to this fixture between
Liverpool and Chelsea as they often play out a
boring games. This season it was 1-1 at Anfield in
August and then the coma inducing scoreless draw
at Stamford Bridge in February.
Away to Fulham at
the weekend Liverpool were showing eight changes
from last weeks win over Blackburn. Torres and
Gerrard were of course left out and they say that
Gerrard is an injury doubt for this first leg. He
has some problems with his neck, but is under
treatment. Is there anybody out there who actually
thinks that Gerrard will not play?
Chelsea will be
without the suspended Essien. He has been their
best player lately, scoring both against Wigan and
Everton. Lampard will play but Drogba is a major
doubt. Ballack is also struggling but should be
fit. Chesea without Drogba lose a lot offensively,
that is for sure.
Home win (2.35) or
the 0-0 draw - those are my options.
