FA Cup Replays

Bristol Rovers  -  Fulham      4.00   -  2.00
My choice has to be the First Division side (4.00). They are in excellent form, undefeated in five games and that form was well demonstrated last Friday when they won the tricky away game at Tranmere 2-0. They hit the wood work three times and B R were quite superior on the day.

In the first leg at Craven Cottage (2-2) Rovers captain Stuart Campbell was out suspended but he will play in this return leg. Carruthers was suspended in the Tranmere fixture but he will also be available tomorrow. Looking good for Blackburn Rovers ahead of this match and they will have a great home crowd behind them.

Staying up in the Premiership is priority number one for Fulham but that does not mean that they will give up on this return leg. Maybe their home game with Arsenal at the weekend is the most important thing this week. Jimmy Bullard played some 15 minutes at the weekend in his come back and I guess that we will see more of the Fulham key player tomorrow. Fulham as favourites away from home? No thank you, they are the worst away side there is in the Premiership, year in and year out. Backing the home win (4.00).

W B A   -   Charlton        1.91  -   4.20
I watched the league game between these two sides at the Hawthorns. WBA were 4-2 winners but the score line was still 2-2 with 15 minutes to go. I was impressed by the WBA will power late in the game. They came in with attack after attack and their late goals were almost inevitable.

The first cup game at the Valley was a very different kind of game with Charlton the dominant force and WBA lucky to get this replay. Key defender Robinson will be missing for the home side but C Beattie will return. Coach Mowbray will make changes to his line up. A player like Teixeira for example, could earn a starting role and K Phillips, I Miller, C Hoefkens and R Koren will most likely be rested. Slightly weakened home side in other words.

According to the Charlton home site it is unlikely to be any changes to their squad. Still missing are Reid, Thatcher, Todorov and S Sodje. There is no way to know which side will be the most motivated tomorrow but I get the impression that Charlton want cup success more than WBA. Promotion is the main issue for both teams but at the same time we have two English managers and they usually have respect for the FA Cup.

I cannot say for sure, but as I recall there was 2.00 - 2.10 on the WBA home win vs. Charlton in the league.  This time it is 1.91, despite the fact that WBA will not be fielding their strongest side. My choice has to be the away win (4.20).

WBA 2 Charlton 2

Reading  -   Tottenham        3.55  -   2.20
The home side will come with their usual cup side, looking much the same as in the first leg. L Lita and S Long in the front line for example. Duberry is out injured, but Gunnarsson will be back from his suspension.

Tottenham may be forced to make a couple of changes this time. They have used the same group of players in all their cup games and league games and I guess that one or two are very tired.J Jenas was suspended at the weekend and he will be involved tomorrow and that is about all I know. I have my doubts about the presence of Berbatov, R Keane, L King and a couple of others, but I cannot say for sure. I will nevertheless back the home win (3.55).

Reading 0 Tottenham 1

Sheffield Wednesday   -   Derby        2.63  -   2.65
The home side is struggling big time in the Championship and Derby have won just one of their twenty two league games in the Premiership. Sheffield Wednesday have won two of their last eleven league games and the form has no real meaning for Law's team either. It looks like S W will be without their two strikers F Jeffers and S Sodje again but it is not yet 100% certain that they will be missing. S Watson, their utility man, is a major injury doubt as well. Winger W Small could be involved this time.

The recent Derby signings, Ghaly, Villa, Robert and Savage, are not available for this match. Defender C Davies is out suspended and Derby have several injury concerns to deal with as well. I backed S W away to Derby. It was more fun at that time with the odds on the right side of 4.00. They were 2-0 up and I felt good of course. Defensively S W were as generous as Derby and the home side could equalise before half time. No goals in the second half and that was a big surprise. I just cannot make up my mind about this fixture. We should see some goals, that much I can say.
