Tuesdays Soccer – by Chris.

The Championship

Norwich   -   Hull         2.10   -   3.75
There are not many reliable sides in the Championship at the moment, maybe only one – Norwich, who are unbeaten in twelve games. Quite an amazing run in this league where the so called supreme side, West Bromwich Albion, are eleven points ahead of 12th placed Wolves. Norwich will most likely be unchanged tomorrow, the impressive C Evans and veteran Dublin up front with D Huckerby on the bench.

Hull will be without two injured regulars, R Garcia and B Hughes. Both D Windass and A Dawson will have late fitness tests. The Danish striker H Pedersen (ex Bolton player) will probably play in the Hull defence again. Decent Hull from with five league wins in their last eleven league games. Supporting the Norwich win (2.10).

Norwich 1 Hull 1

Watford   -   Leicester        1.73   -   5.10
Tempting odds on the away win (5.10). Disappointing Leicester effort at the weekend at home to Plymouth (0-1). Coach Holloway is talking about some kind of ultimatum ahead of this difficult match. I guess that he is just trying to scare his players or something like that. The old school tactics! Leicester will have their previously suspended defender R Stearman back tomorrow. Holloway is saying that he will not make too many changes which usually means an unchanged side. In this case only adding Stearman.

The league leaders, Watford welcome back J McAnuff and L Williamson from suspensions. Only McAnuff can count on a starting role. Watford are topping the table thanks to their amazing away strength with ten away wins this far. At Vicarage Road it has been harder, with only six home wins. Why not the away win! (5.10).

Watford 1 Leicester 0

Scunthorpe   -   Bristol City         2.75   -   2.65
Backing Scunny! (2.75). This is a strange division, where Bristol City are in the top three at the moment. I do not want to be rude, but there is no demand in the Premiership for any of the present top teams in the Championship. That much I can say. According to the Bristol City boss changes are inevitable for this match as a couple of his players have niggling injuries. D Adebola and M Elliott are mentioned.

Scunthorpe defeated Charlton a week ago and at the weekend they managed a 0-0 draw at Sheffield United with only ten men for some 80 minutes. In other words Scunthorpe have no reason to fear B City. Leading striker M Paterson will be back from his suspension as well as A Butler. Obviously G Horsfield, the on loan striker from S United, was ineligible against his old club but tomorrow he should play again. Sounds good, Horsfield and M Paterson from the start. G McCann is out, suspended, but defender C Byrne will be fit to play. Scunthorpe to win (2.75).

Scunthorpe 0 Bristol 1

W B A    -   Sheffield Utd          1.73   -   5.10
You know what you get from WBA at the Hawthorns, mostly wins, 10-4-1 so far. Impressive home strength in other words. Still it would be dangerous if they start believing the hype that they are definitely the strongest side in this division and so on. I do not think that they are, but I admit that their power at the Hawthorns can bring them to the Premiership. WBA hope to include both R Koren and I Miller tomorrow, but Bednar is in danger of missing the match.

S United will be without U Ehiogu and J Stead. Kilgallon will deputise for Ehiogu. D Carney should be available again. Make or break game for S U boss B Robson. If they lose this match and if his players will underachieve again, I sincerely doubt that Robson will be in charge of business on Wednesday. It could be that Robson and his players can handle the big games better. They defeated Man City in the FA Cup and they also outclassed Charlton at the Valley.  As big home favourites S United have failed miserably all season long and their fans are disillusioned, to say the least. Potentially there is not much between these sides, but reality has proven something else. However, I will give Robson one more chance. Away win (5.10).

WBA 0 Sheffield Utd 0
