Golf – WGC Bridgestone Invitational.

1 point e/w David Toms @ 40/1 with Ladbrokes, Coral, SportingOdds.

lost 2 points

Ignore his missed cut in the Open, that event is one that he has never enjoyed due to the fact that he has a very American game, flying the ball high in the air, not good in a breezy links environment. Take away that result and he is in good current form 3/5/6 before the Open, and has very good course form, last 3 here 6/9/8. 40/1 looks a very decent price when you look at those figures.

1 point e/w Hunter Mahan @ 50/1 generally available.

lost 2 points

Perhaps a bit short in the betting as this is his course debut, but he hits the ball a mile and is accurate into the greens, which is just what is needed on this long par 70 course. You can’t knock his current form 17/13/1/8/6/5 which includes The Open and US Open. He has arrived in the big league and looks like he will win again this season.

5 points Donald to beat Harrington @ 1.93 with Centrebet (tie no bet)

lost 5 points

Harrington can be forgiven to having a bit of a wild time after winning the Open. The Irish Open and The Open, quite a double and I dare say his feet haven’t touched the floor since lifting the claret Jug (filled with John Smiths for his first post event drink…not Guinness as you might expect. Little bit of alcoholic trivia for you there!). However good his wins have been, he has not played this course well in the past, no top 10’s, only 2 top 20’s and it is a record that could be best described as reasonable. Donald on the other hand plays the course very well with 3 finishes of 16/6/8, beating Harrington every time. Forget Donald's poor showing in the Open, he is a very poor links player and being back ‘home’ in America will suit him.

5 points Steve Stricker to beat Geoff Ogilvy @ 10/11 with Ladbrokes

won 4.54 points

Stricker is in a very good run of form 13/2/8 with two of those in Majors. He has not played the course since 1996, but he was runner up on that occasion and in his current form he should be capable of a strong result. Ogilvy is having an indifferent season, well summed up by his last 4 events mc/42/12/mc. He can be good but not very often in 2007 and his results in two events on this course are strictly midfield 41/36.
