Cheltenham Gold Cup - 3.15 The Odds and Sods Column started of with a winning horse bet, and since then every nag advised has run like a hairy goat. Today’s Gold Cup at Cheltenham is too big a sporting event for Odds and Sods not to have a tilt at and we shall no doubt put the curse on the unfortunate beast. 1 point e/w L’Ami @ 10/1 with Totesport, Stan James, Bet365, BlueSq (1/4 1,2,3&4) L’Ami has caught the eye running in defeat in top class races this season, always in the frame but finding 1 or 2 just too good. In his favour is that his trainer, the suave Francois Doumen has had to endure very poor weather conditions in France over the winter which has resulted in his string being a bit backward. He is now much happier with the horses condition and reckons he is at his peak. You cannot fault L’Ami’s consistency, placed in his last 8 starts and he is re-united with in form Jockey Mick Fitzgerald who rode him the last time he won. There would be no more popular winning jockey after his return to the saddle after a broken neck. The stiff uphill finish at Cheltenham has finished many a horses hopes in the great race, but L’Ami should stay better than most if recent performances are anything to go by. WON 1.5 POINTS |
