The Masters - Augusta,
Georgia.
Normally the Masters favours long hitters and not
accurate drivers however that was not the case last
year. With the course playing tough it was the
accurate drivers who played much better than
expected. This year there may little to choose
between these two categories.
The crucial factor now, given that the course is so
difficult to play, is the course form which must be
at least twice as important as a regular tour event.
As a consequence the Twenty debutants will be at
quite a disadvantage .To date Fuzzy Zoeller is the
only debutant to win the Masters.

Jerry Kelly had a good 2007 with ten top 25s making
twenty one of 28 cuts. His recent form is reasonable
with a 2nd place in his last tournament
0,33,20,30,0,2,-,- . He has played four times out of
the last five years at Augusta with an excellent 5th
place last year. JB Holmes is over-rated by virtue
of winning the FBR Open at the beginning of
February. He had only five top 25s in 2007 and
missed twelve cuts from 24 starts. He has not played
well in his last three tournaments
7,33,-,0,59,40,-,-, and more importantly he has not
played at Augusta before.

10/11 Langer v
Kaymer 5 units
Bernhard Langer has had something of a revival in
recent months playing on the Champions Tour. He has
won three tournaments since joining that tour in
August of last year when turning 50. The standard is
not as high on the Champions Tour of course but
these wins will still help his confidence a lot.
Langer has won the Masters twice in ‘85 and’ 93 and
although he has missed the cut the last two years
his form before that was good 0,4,20,0,0 . Martin
Kaymer has played very well on the European Tour but
has yet to replicate that form in the States with
only a missed cut and 57th to his name. The main
reason to back against him is that he is new to
Augusta.

Tim Clark has
recovered from his neck injury which caused him
problems during 2007. He had an operation and the
end of last season to correct a trapped nerve and
is now completely free of pain. Despite the injury
he had twelve top 25s in 2007 and has a good
record in the Masters 13,0,39,2,13. His fellow
countryman (South Africa) has not fared as well
and has had a poor season so far
0,0,17,0,65,48,40,-,0 . He has played the Masters
the last four years but apart from a 5th place in
2005 his record is poor . -,0,5,0,55 .
