Spanish GP – Qualifying.

Betting on who will get pole looks to difficult this week, but there are 2 match bets which look very interesting.

8 points Heidfeld to out qualify Villeneuve @ 8/11 with Skybet.

won 5.8 points

This looks like a potential walk over for Heidfeld. Villeneuve had to change his engine on arrival in Spain as the team dropped it. Even if Villeneuve ran on fumes he would struggle to get the car much higher than 7th which means that he would start 17th, would have to pit very early, and would then be in last place. If the team are sensible they will tell him to save his engine and just sit in the pits for the session, fill it up with fuel and go for a 2 stopper (1 stop is very unlikely on this track). He has virtually nothing to gain by trying to qualify in the top 10, he has only managed it once in 5 races with out the complication of an engine change. Heidfeld is free to push for a top 10, and might well get it as the car has looked very good so far this weekend. The team can then have 2 cars on different strategies, which could pay dividends if we had any safety car sessions.

4 points Montoya to out qualify Raikkonen @ 11/8 with Skybet.

lost 4 points

Montoya is always under-rated in this match up. There is not much between them this season in qualifying and it is Montoya who is 3-2 up on the H2H’s. He also has the new Mercedes engine for this race and his has very miles on the clock. It is likely that the team will allow him to turn it up to full revs for his effort in Q3, while Raikkonen may opt to run with less revs to promote reliability in the race, as his engine is 1 race old. The price is too big.
