Japanese GP –Sunday Update. Without a doubt the recommended bet on Alonso is looking lost. Bridgestone have come to Suzuka with a good tyre, while Michelin have something giving as much grip as a clown on a banana skin. Perhaps I am being a little harsh as the Suzuka circuit has an abrasive surface and the Michelins may be much more durable over a race distance….but then again, there is little evidence of that. This looks like a Ferrari showcase. However, all is not lost betting wise and there are 3 good looking bets that should keep the account in the black. 6 points Heidfeld to finish in the points @ 5/4 with Hills, Totesport. won 7.5 points The BMW Sauber team have been one of the big success stories in F1 this year. Nothing exceptional, but they have gone about their first season away from the ‘mighty Williams’ with an assuredness which bodes well for the future. Heidfeld is a perfect driver for them as they lay down foundations. Very quiet, a bit spotty, unfashionable but a very decent F1 driver. He has clocked up 7 points finishes in his last 10 races and the 3 that he didn’t score in were all results of 1st lap collisions. He starts from a well fuelled 9th on the grid and so long as he gets a clean 1st lap, he looks great value to finish in the top 8. 3 points Kubica to beat De la Rosa @ 2.00 with SportingOdds. won 3 points Kubica is a future star, De la Rosa is a decent test driver/stand in. McLaren are as bad as they ever have been and wisely putting all their efforts into the 2007 car. Kubica was faster than DLR in Q1 & Q2 and you have to fancy natural talent over a big name team in decline. A sporting bet. 3 points Button to beat Raikkonen @ 2.00 with Unibet. won 3 points Raikkonen and McLaren appear to be a bit bored by this terrible season. Kimi just wants out, have a few beers and then off to Ferrari. McLaren are not giving him any new bits in case the information ends up at Ferrari in 2007. Button is driving ‘at home’ and Honda need a big result. Button has been very good on this track, never out of the top 7 and having stuck his Honda on 7th place on the grid, he looks decent bet to make the most of a 4 place head start on the grid and beat Raikkonen for the 4th time in the last 5 races. |
