Turkish GP - Sunday Update.
A
nice result yesterday with Massa just piping the
irrepressible
Hamilton, Raikkonen again making a last corner
mistake and Alonso looking to be on a different
strategy from Hamilton and likely to be heavier than
the three in front. The McLarens both start from the
dirty side of the track and we saw what a problem
that was for the even number grid positions in
Hungary with 7 of the 11 dropping places on the
first lap. It looks good for Ferrari but McLaren are
close enough to cause them problems if they have the
slightest weakness. Alonso, on a different strategy
to the other three, could be the biggest threat and
he might just make it 3 second places in a row in
Turkey.
Worth a a couple of small bets on the straight
tricast market

I
am interested in Alonso’s strategy, his 4th
place on the grid was down to more than just a
scrappy lap, he has more fuel on board and I think
his plan is very much to beat
Hamilton.
He is the man he has to beat for the Championship,
not to mention the small matter of who’s the King of
the Castle within McLaren. My guess is that Alonso
knows this is a race that is very likely to be won
by a Ferrari, but if he can get 2nd or 3rd,
his bid for the third Drivers Title in a row will
have been improved. He must beat
Hamilton and he is not without a good chance of doing just that.
Certainly the price on offer strikes me as being way
too big.

Button required an engine change and will start from
last place. Coulthard qualified a disappointing 13th
as the team and Coulthard in particular were hopeful
of a strong weekend, but were only a fraction
quicker than the Hondas. However, starting 9 places
ahead on the grid does give DC a very big head start
over Button and it is hard to see the Honda driver
finishing ahead of Coulthard if both have a trouble
free race. The Red Bulls terrible record of
unreliability seems to a thing of the past with just
1 retirement from both cars in the last 4 races.
Indeed it is Honda who might have a problem, with
Button retiring with engine failure in
Hungary
and obviously having a problem yesterday. The odds
on the Scot are far too big.

The Ferraris have dominated the fasted lap betting
this season with 8 from 11 and the last 5 in a row.
Massa
and Raikkonen have 4 each. Massa looks a reasonable
bet with a saver on Raikkonen.
