Turkish GP -
Saturday Update.
Turkish GP – Qualifying.
I
am happy enough with the earlier bets on pole
position. Perhaps Hamilton is a threat to the
Ferraris this afternoon. Being fastest this morning,
after such an interrupted set up program due to some
niggling mechanical problems, was impressive. The
McLarens are holding their own time wise, as they
are much quicker in the slower 3rd
sector. Ferrari were flying in sector one but by the
time they got to the slow corners, they were in
trouble. So if you are going to have a bet in
running, you may well get a much bigger price on
Hamilton after Massa or Raikkonen has just gone
massively quicker in sector 1.
It seems that the softer of the two tyre compound is
not working at all well. Some teams were considering
running a 1 stop race but as they have to use both
compounds, that now looks very unlikely.
4
points Liuzzi to out qualify Vettel @ 5/6 with

won 3.33 points
Liuzzi is not flavour of the month and will not be
driving for Red Bull next season. It looks like the
thought of life outside of F1 is having the effect
of focusing his mind on the job, of well, finding a
job. There are rumours of a possible move to
Williams but to have any chance he has to beat the
much fancied Vettel. If he can, his stock will rise.
He has the advantage of knowing the car much better
than Vettel, who only has the Hungarian GP and the
three practice sessions here, under his belt. There
was no testing allowed during the recent 3 week test
and this track is very different to the Hungaroring.
Liuzzi has been faster in all three sessions so far
and was comfortably quicker in qualifying in
Hungary.
Perhaps Vettels chances are being overrated at this
very early stage in his F1 career. He is just a kid
in a crappy car, and a crappy car he is not that
familiar with. My money is on the more experienced
and motivated Liuzzi.
