Qualifying Update.
I am now quite confident that Ferrari will not get
pole position today. The cool track conditions
really seem affect the cars ability to get enough
heat into the front tyres quickly enough to set a
competitive qualifying time. BMW may also be
suffering from the same problem as their T1 times
were regularly poor compared to McLaren who appear
to the best of the big teams in terms of being able
to hit top speed straight away. With Hamilton still
looking to have an edge over Kovy in qualifying he
looks the favourite to me.
In Barcelona we saw Alonso only just missing out on
pole with a fuel load, just 4 laps shy of pole man
Raikkonen. Well he is right up there again this
morning, just behind fellow Renault powered Webber.
We all know what Webber is capable off over a single
lap, and if Red Bull decide to be aggressive and
send him out 4 or five laps light, he could get
pole. Alonso looks vastly over priced on Betfair at
42.00Certainly with Ferrari looking badly
handicapped and BMW not looking great, the battle
for pole looks exceptionally open.

A very decent price, my favourite for pole and a top
three place looks well within his grasp.

The evidence is there from Spain and it would be no
surprise to see him on the front row again.

Like Alonso in Barcelona, the pace is there if the
team go aggressive.
