Canadian GP – Qualifying. A chaotic free practice this morning wasn’t the greatest form guide, but it appears that Ferrari is struggling to match the pace of the McLarens. It looks to me that the battle for pole is between Alonso and Hamilton and may well be decided behind closed doors. Who will get the lower fuel strategy? Usually it is Alonso, but with pole position not being critical here, perhaps he will opt for a longer first run. I cannot split them but certainly I would rather take 4/1 Hamilton than 2/1 Alonso. Massa may still pull out one of his specials but the car is not giving him any advantage, especially after overnight rain washed the track clean again. For whatever reason Ferrari is struggling for grip and they need the track to rubber in, and not much was laid down today. 2 points Hamilton to be fastest qualifier @ 4/1 with SportingBet. The BMW Saubers have looked out of sorts, not very fast and unreliable. They have had little track time and are on the back foot. Suddenly they do not look best of the rest. Webber is a qualifying expert and the car looks pretty good despite the ‘flexi wing’ carry on. 3 points Webber to out qualify Kubica @ 11/8 with SportingBet. |
