British GP – Qualifying. An improved effort from Alonso this morning, but Raikkonens final flying lap was hindered by traffic and looks like he has 0.2 – 0.3 seconds a lap better pace. Of course fuel loads will come into the equation, but Ferrari know that their car struggles when following another car and I am sure they will be putting only as much fuel has they have too. Indeed they can probably carry more than McLaren and still get pole. Massa looks to be second best to Raikkonen this weekend. But he is a great qualifier and can’t be written off. Hamilton not so good this weekend but he usually ups his game when it matters. He will have strategy choice this weekend and will probably go for a lower fuel load, which will hinder Alonso’s pole chances. The rest of the field are nearly a second off the pace and have no chance for pole. There is no great value to be had in outright pole betting but it looks like Ferraris for the taking. 4 points Raikkonen to set fastest qualifying lap @ 2.75 with BlueSQ lost 4 points 2 points Massa to set fastest qualifying lap @ 3.50 with Ladbrokes, Sporting Odds. lost 2 points Ralf Schumacher continues to do well, is he about to do the unthinkable and out qualify his team mate? Trulli had his flying lap ruined by Hamilton, but he has looked second best to Ralf so far this weekend. However, it would be a brave man to bet against Trulli getting the better time when it matters. He is 8-0 up after all and that is not just down to luck. 3 points Trulli to out qualify Ralf Schumacher @ 15/8 with Skybet lost 3 points Stan James’ W/O the big 6 market looks to have a bit of value in the shape of Rosberg. The Williams Toyota has looked a top 8 car all weekend so far and of course this is a track that Rosberg will know better than any. The fact that it is not hard on cars will help his chances as he has been robbed of a couple of strong points scoring chances in previous races.
