Brazilian GP – Saturday Update.

This looks very much like Suzuka qualifying revisited. The Michelin teams seem to have no answer to the 1 lap pace of Ferrari/Bridgestone. Mass was over 0.8 seconds faster than the best Michelin runners and on a lap that is nearly 1 mile shorter than the Japanese track! Awesome as the Yanks would say, and all Red front row looks a certainty, if they both manage a clean lap. We are already on Massa, but if you missed that price, Boylesports still offer 3/1, which is mental. A saver on Schumacher is no bad idea, but the 11/10 available on Betfair a few minutes ago has been taken up.

Fisichella was faster than Alonso this morning and of course he has the new E-Spec Renault engine which will be turned up to the max in qualifying. I have a feeling that Renault would like to get Fisichella as close to the Red cars as possible in qualifying, and maybe be able to pass one at the start. Alonso will want to be as near the front as possible, but he has the old spec engine and may well be on a more conservative fuel strategy, with a longer first stint, aiming for a top 3rd or 4th finish. Indeed a 3-4 finish for Renault would be just fine allowing them to win both titles even if Ferrari did finish 1-2.

Worth a gamble that Fisi can actually do a job for the team and use his power advantage and qualify ahead of Alonso. The price is very good.

3 points Fisichella to out qualify Alonso @ 15/8 with Skybet.

Adding:

The Toyotas did not strap on any new tyres for the final runs in FP3 this morning so expect them to make a big move up the time sheets in actual qualifying. They were 3rd and 4th in Japan and with the massive advantage given by the Bridgestones they should be close to repeating that again. Ralf seems the quicker of the two this weekend.
